In our Community Engagement class we had to get in groups and brainstorm projects that will improve and benefit our school community. After coming up with a few ideas we decided to do Shark Bites. Shark Bites are a form of currency in our school. They are earned by doing good deeds and being an exemplary student. Students receive them from teachers and then can redeem them for prizes. This project is a big example of civic literacy and engagement. This class is basically about this skill and how we can help out our community and in this case our school community. What I'm most proud of was how we all worked together to plan out this project. Everyone did their part and we got it all well organized. I improved upon my interpersonal skills during this project. We had to work together or the whole project would just be bad. We talked about what we wanted and how we wanted to do it. The most difficult part was having to do everything Ms, Federoff told us. She expected a lot out of this project so having to make a list of all the teachers and involved and how this project will run was hard. This will help me in the future with coming up with projects that can help my surroundings and working together in a group.
21st Century Skills Civic Literacy and Engagement- This project was to help out our school community. This project relied on the student to be engaged in the community and help out in our school. Interpersonal Skills- With this project we all relied on each other. We had to work together for this project to have a good outcome. We would sit down with our groups and just use our sources to work together. Thinking and Problem Solving-We had to plan out how everything would work. Thinking of problems we could have and then working around those things. Communication Skills- We had to communicate with each other to know what everyone was doing. Communication with Ms. Federoff was very important to know our limits of what we could do and incorporate in the project. The most important form of communication we needed was with teachers. We sent out emails to ask for responses and feedback from teachers. We needed to know what teachers felt and were willing to give as prizes to students.
