Algebra 2
Name of Assignment: Solving Systems of Equations
Subject: Algebra 2
Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. S
Description of Work/Assignment:
After learning and talking about different ways to solve systems of equations we were given a worksheet that had to do with elimination. We had to solve simple number equations but we also have real world applications which are like word problems. We have to solve for those too.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
The 21st century skill this addresses is Thinking and Problem Solving. For these types of equations you have to figure out with numbers you should eliminate and how you're going to solve for your x and y variables.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I’m proud of how well I understood this topic. Deciphering word problems and having to come up with an equation yourself can be hard but I also talked with my teacher to make sure I was doing right
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
Working with real life applications in math is really important so using my thinking and problems solving skills definitely helped me improve in that area.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
What was most difficult was coming up with equations and following the steps to solve. When you're doing a problem and you reach the end but you know your answer isn’t quite right it's difficult trying to find where you messed up and what numbers you might have mixed up.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different?
If I could start over I would make sure I knew all the steps and look at my notes a little more so that I wouldn't waste time doing the problems wrong and get it right on the first try.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This relates to what I’ve done in the past because freshman year in Algebra 1 we did go over this stuff so I do have some background knowledge on the topic. It is really good we’re reviewing and relearning these things.
How can you apply this to future learning?
I can apply this to future learning by using what I’ve learned in real life applications so if I ever run across some equations I don’t know how to solve I’ll have some knowledge on it.
